    Volunteer Incentive Month

    Volunteer Incentive Month

Monday 23rd November to Wednesday 23rd December, 2020 (inclusive)

We really want to see what a FULL volunteer roster looks like. Can you help us?

If you complete seven volunteer hours during the aforementioned month, you will receive a $50 gift voucher on top of your volunteer discount points!

There are some extra shifts in the incentive period, INCLUDING SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, and sometimes there will be more than one vollie on shift.

There is still no limit to how many hours you can volunteer and you may do up to 3 hours volunteering at a time by booking in for multiple shifts i.e. 1 x 2 hour shift and 1 x 1 hour shift, back to back.

The booking sheet is here. Use your initials and your membership number to book in for shifts as normal.

    Special Resolution – Rules Change

This year we have been revising our rules to bring them into line with the Co-operatives National Law which was passed in 2012.

By bringing the Blue Mountains Food Co-op into line with the national law, it signals an important next step for the Co-op’s development and growth. A fitting way to acknowledge the considerable effort and gains made over the 40 years of the Co-op’s existence that will strengthen the Co-ops ability to ensure a dynamic and secure future for the benefit of members and the broader mountains community.
The new rules once adopted will come into effect once they’ve been registered with the Department of Fair Trading.

You can view our new draft rules along with the current 2010 rules here.

The main changes under the new rules are as follows:

    • All rights of membership available immediately to new members but the board can refuse membership in first 2 months.
    • Term for directors set at 3-years with a cap of 2 consecutive terms for all directors elected from 2020. A director wishing to re-nominate after two consecutive terms needs to wait for 2 years to re-nominate
    • Employee board position removed
    • End of financial year moved from June 30 to March 31

For a full description of all the rule changes read more here.
