Did you know?
Pomegranates are packed with nutrients. According to Sydney Markets, autumn’s crimson jewel “contains almost 50% the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. Anthocyanins found in the red pigment of pomegranates may provide anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-cancer benefits.”
Store them in a cool dark environment for up to a month or in the fridge for two months.
This versatile fruit is perfect for sweet or savoury dishes like this Haloumi and Pomegranate Salad.

Growing tips
Pomegranate Punica granatum makes an attractive backyard tree that produces red flowers before the lantern-like fruit appear. It can grow up to 8 metres, prefers full sun but is hardy in most conditions. Pomegranates love a hot summer so if grown in very cold regions choose a spot near a north facing wall which will radiate extra warmth and protect from spring frosts.
