New year, new “Vollie of the month”
Jane Hills is our first “vollie of the month” for 2021. We chatted with Jane to find out why she volunteers at the Co-op.
Q: How long have you been volunteering at the Co-op?
Jane: 6 months. Training was delayed due to Covid!
Q: What is your favourite aspect of volunteering at the Co-op?
Jane: It’s nice to contribute to one of the fabulous things in the mountains – the Co-op!
Q: How did you find out about volunteering at the Co-op?
Jane: Goes back a long way – probably from students I taught at Natural Therapies College – Sonya Byron! And more recently the newsletter has been a good reminder.
Q: What is your work background?
Jane: I’m an educator and a naturopath with an interest in nutrition, herbs and holistic health.
Q: What have you learnt as a volunteer at the Co-op?
Jane: That the staff work really hard! It’s a physically demanding job. I’ve learnt a lot about the different products too.
Q: What is your favourite food?
Jane: Green leafy vegetables!
Q: What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering at the Co-op?
Jane: Just do it. You can work within your capabilities and everyone is supportive.
Thank you Jane!
