Championing local food

A farm to fork first

Our first Meet Your Local Farmer Dinner, held on Saturday May 27th, was a huge success thanks to the lovely supporters who came along and the team effort of Lyttleton Stores and Blue Mountains Food Co-op.

Thirty-plus guests were treated to a lavish three course spread made entirely from local produce and creatively prepared in the Lyttleton Stores kitchen by Jacinta Carmichael-Parissi and Nick Grillanc.

Springwood farmers, Jo and Joe Tabone, of Urbavore Blue Mountains, entertained diners with the story of their farming journey, from backyard novice growers to fully fledged market gardeners, and provided much of the fresh veg that was enjoyed on the night.

Save the date!

Our next local food event will be a Fireside Farmers’ Chat in the garden at Lyttleton Stores, on Saturday August 26th.  Think hot soup, warm sourdough bread, mulled wine, and lots of good conversation on the hot topic of the future of food growing in the Blue Mountains. For more information or to register your interest in attending please email marketing@bmfoodcoop.org.au and watch this space!
