As co-owners, our members are the heart and soul of the Co-op.
By having a member-owned and run not-for-profit food co-op in our community, we’re able to keep prices as low as possible while supporting local growers, source the best quality and most sustainable food available, provide local employment, offer education initiatives and give back to the community through our donations program.
While anyone can shop here, members pay 10% less than non-members, can elect directors at our Annual General Meeting, or nominate to become a director, and vote on other important issues. Members can also volunteer to receive an extra 20% discount off member prices. Volunteering is not compulsory but it is fun and helps you see how the Co-op works.
From October 1st 2021 membership fees are as follows:
*Concession card holders include Centrelink Jobseeker, Pension, Austudy, Youth Allowance, and Health Care Cards. Proof of concession status is required. Concession memberships and renewals can only be purchased in store.
We have a membership fee of $40 for 12 months or $20 for six months. If you think you’ll spend more than about $8/week you’ll save money as a member.
Please note that if you join or renew online there may be a processing time of up to 5 business days before your membership details are entered into our point of sale system. No online membership purchases or renewals will be processed over the Christmas and New Years period as the office is closed. Memberships are available to purchase and renew in store whenever the store is open. Please see the website and social media for the most up to date opening hours.
If you’d like to join this community enterprise with over 2,500 other like-minded members you can either drop into the shop and fill out a membership form, or you can complete the form below and submit online then drop into the shop to pick up your membership card.
When you join up, we’ll give you a membership card the first time you visit the store as a member. Please have it handy to show staff each time you shop.
Once your new membership has been acknowledged by the board of directors you will receive a welcome email letting you know that your membership is official.
Please note that by submitting your membership application online you are automatically subscribing to our monthly newsletter which you are free to unsubscribe from at any time. Your private information will not be shared with any third parties. You can read more about privacy here.
If you wish to renew your existing membership, please pay securely using the form below providing your membership number (the bar code number on the back of your card) in the field provided so that we can match your payment to the correct membership. Alternatively, just ask to pay your membership fee the next time you come in to shop.
Thank you for your continued support of The Co-op.
If you are a concession card holder, senior or student, you can shop at member prices every Wednesday.
We offer member prices to visiting members of other food Co-ops both in Australia and overseas. Please show us your membership card of the Co-op you belong to or let us know that you’re a member of a food co-op elsewhere.
If you live in or move to the mountains though and the Blue Mountains Food Co-op becomes your main co-op shopping destination we expect you to sign up as a member of our Co-op as we survive on the annual membership contributed by our members.
