“Yes” campaign

NAIDOC week 2023

On Sunday 2nd July, the beginning of NAIDOC Week 2023,  a “Picnic for Yes” is planned to give Blue Mountains residents the opportunity to gather and discuss the importance of the First Nations Voice to Parliament referendum and learn more about the “Yes” campaign. Organised by Blue Mountains People for Yes (also known as Blue Mountains People for Reconciliation) the picnic will be held at Wilson Park Wentworth Falls (corner of Falls Road and Great Western Highway) on Sunday 2nd July from 11am – 2pm. Families and friends are encouraged to attend and will be provided with information and entertainment as part of the day’s event. Blue Mountains People for Yes will be holding a stall at Winter Magic, Saturday 24th June, plus stalls at Magpie Markets in July, August, and September. You might also see them popping up in Katoomba soon.

First Nations Workshops at Scenic World

Curated by Gundungurra Custodian and Scenic World Indigenous Engagement Officer, David King, two workshops will be held at Scenic World on Tuesday 4 July and Thursday 6 July to celebrate and connect with Gundungurra Country.

Acknowledgement of Country – art workshop 

Join Wiradjuri Artist and Creator of Bilingarra, Brett Groves, for painting, yarning and laughs. Create your very own Acknowledgement of Country Art under his guidance. Ticket price includes 20cm x 25cm canvas for each person, paint and brushes. Recommended for ages 5 and up, for any skill level.

Welcome to bush tucker plants

Greg Smith is the owner of ‘Yama 2 You Bush Tucker Nursery’ an Indigenous nursery in the Southern Highlands, NSW. Learn about different native plants and bush tucker. Gain insight into their cultural significance, including their traditional uses, how they can be prepared, eaten and made for medicinal purposes. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Thursday 6 July 8:30am-10am.
