Unsung heroes

Hilary Stritch and Don Easley are two of the unsung heroes of the Co-op, hardworking volunteers who give up one night a month to attend Co-op cleaning bees. We caught up with Hilary and Don to find out why they volunteer at the Co-op.

Q: How long have you been volunteering at the Co-op?

Hilary & Don: We’ve been volunteering for two years! Always cleaning. Why? It’s fun and social, the atmosphere is good and the treats are great!

Q: What aspect of volunteering do you like most?

Hilary & Don: We find it fun and satisfying and you get your shopping cheaper which means you don’t have to go to Woolies!

Q: How did you find out about volunteering at the Co-op?

Hilary & Don: We found about volunteering during the day through friends and staff then we discovered the cleaning bee at night was easier to fit in with our lifestyle.

Q: What is your background?

Hilary & Don: Gardening, kids, disabilities, building.

Q: What have you learnt as a volunteer at the Co-op?

Hilary & Don: Orange Squirt is great! 😉

Q: What is your favourite food at the Co-op?

Hilary & Don: Vegies, eggs and turmeric chai tea.

Q: What would you say to someone thinking about becoming a volunteer at the Co-op?

Hilary & Don: You have to! It’s so good and you get to know everybody.

Thank you Hilary and Don! If you’re interested in volunteering check out the benefits and register for a training session here.
