Bliss balls are easy to make, you just need to get the right balance of wet, dry and sticky ingredients and play around with your flavours till you get something that tastes yummy and holds together.

Ingredients

2.5 cups medjool dates
1 cup shredded coconut
2/3 cup raw cacao powder
1 cup almond meal
¼ cup cacao butter slowly melted over a double boiler
1 tblsp coconut oil
2-5 drops orange oil
1 tsp orange zest
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup crushed roasted almonds for rolling

Method

These yummy balls utilise delicious nutritious raw cacao powder. This superfood is high in many minerals including calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, potassium and an excellent source of vitamin C along with loads of anti-oxidants. Dates are an iron rich sweetener and activated almonds contain protein, potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Add all the ingredients except coconut for rolling, to a food processoer and process till well combined. Roll into balls. Place desiccated coconut in a small bowl and roll balls in it to coat them. Refrigerate balls to harden a little before serving. Makes approx. 20 small balls.

Variation – Add peppermint oil instead of orange oil and roll in desiccated coconut instead of almonds.
