MEMBERSHIP MATTERS
12th December, 2017

We want to make your shopping experience at the Co-op as safe and smooth as possible.

Membership Cards

Big thanks to members who show their membership cards at the till.

The Co-op has become increasingly busy, especially over the last five months, and we’re now serving an average 1.6 shoppers every minute of every single day that we’re open. We know you’re not fond standing in a queue and we’d just like to make the whole experience as streamlined as possible. Having your membership card ready to show when you shop makes serving you much quicker and means we make fewer mistakes – like serving you or renewing you under the wrong membership or not giving you the member prices at all.

When you have your card ready it also means we just have that little bit more time to say hi and see how your day’s going.

But don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your card. We can still look you up by your name or your membership number. Please bear in mind though that sometimes looking you up by name can be tricky if there are a lot of people in the system with the same surname as you or if your name has a hyphen or starts with Mc or Mac. In that case, it is easier to look you up by your first name or by your membership number.

If you’ve lost your card, we’re happy to give you a new one for free – unless you happen to be particularly attached to your old membership number, in which case you can keep your number and just let us know that you don’t want a new one. And if there is another member of your household who also regularly shops at the Co-op, we are happy to issue them with a free shopper’s card, linked to your membership.

Spills and Slips – Keeping Everyone Safe

We understand that spills happen at the Co-op and it is our highest priority to keep everyone as safe as possible. But we need your help, as sometimes we’re too busy to see a spill in the far corner of the shop.

If you spill something dry or see a spill, please either grab a dustpan and broom and sweep it up or tell one of our staff and we’ll clean it up. If you spill something liquid, you’re probably going to need help to clean it up so just let us know and we’ll attend to it.

Spills and slip hazards include:
· Fruit or vegetable fragments
· Liquids like oils or water
· Dry products like flours, grains and legumes.

We understand that it can feel embarrassing if you spill something but it’s much more devastating if someone slips and falls as a result. So please don’t worry – if you spill or drop something, we’ll absorb the cost – you don’t have to pay for it. But please let us know if it was a lot of something so we can put it through our losses system. This helps us to keep track of our stock.
